Well water results reader
Enter the numbers from your lab report. Leave the rest blank. We compare each one with the US EPA limit and the Health Canada guideline. Nothing leaves your phone.
EPA limits for public water systems are used as a yardstick; private wells aren't regulated by them. Secondary limits are about taste and staining. For more detail see what your results mean. PFAS results: see PFAS testing (EPA PFOA and PFOS limit 4.0 ng/L each; Health Canada objective 30 ng/L for the sum of 25 PFAS).
Questions
What is the difference between mg/L and µg/L?
1 mg/L equals 1,000 µg/L. mg/L is the same as parts per million (ppm); µg/L is parts per billion (ppb).
My nitrate result is 'as nitrate', not 'as N'. How do I convert?
Divide a nitrate (NO3) result by 4.43 to get nitrate as nitrogen. 45 mg/L as nitrate is about 10 mg/L as N.
